Will Carbeurator conversion cause loss of OEm warning lights?

Hi All,

First of all, great place you guys have here.

I was looking at an RX-7 today that had a carbeurator conversion, and I have been thinking about doing it myself for a long time. I just had one question that has really stumped me.

The conversion I am being offered would utilize the a distributor conversion, and the stock ECU would be removed. If this were done, would the warning lights and buzzers for engine problems, such as low oil, and low coolant still work, or would I just have to depend on my oil pressure gauge to notice a loss of oil?

oil and water should both work. they have nothing to do with the ECU. as long as those wires / sensors are still there.

Once everything is done, how will I know that I have reconnected everything properly? Does the low oil alarm go off if the sensor is unplugged?

What about the coolant level sensor? Does it go off if it is unplugged?

Thanks for your help Scott.

The low oil level sensor comes "on" when a floating magnetic bar shorts the switch contacts, so if you disconnect the plug, no, it won't work...

The coolant level sensor uses the water conductivity for a ground to stay off, so if you disconnect that, yes, it will come on...

Oh Ok, so the oil level sensor is the ne that I should really be concerned about connecting properly, because if I screw that up, I will never know it until my engine takes a dump on me.

Yes they would, as none of these fuctions are controlled by the ECU.
