Will a bad AFM cause a "limp" condition?

My 91 vert goes into limp mode. Checking the code I am either getting a code 27 or a code 10 and a code 17.
I checked my OMP and it meets specification and oil is flowing through the lines. TPS meets specifications too and I tried a different ECU.
So.. I am starting to belive that I am reading the code wrong . Code 17 would make scence since I don't have an O2 sensor anymore. Bt I would like to know if the AFM could make the car go into a "limp mode".

Thanks
