Hard Gear change cold morning?

When driving on a cold moring it seems to take about an hour before I can change gears smoothly, I reaaly have to push it into gear up to about fifth. Has anyone come accross this before and know how to fix it?

Mine does that, but not that badly. When I drove a friend's stock TII and tried a 0-60 run, I ground the first-second shift and missed the shift completely, the synchros were so bad. That tranny just didn't want to shift quickly. It made me realize that I didn't have it so bad with my 87 base, when it needs a little double clutching to get back into first sometimes, or when the tranny only likes to shift at a certain engine speed. FC trannies don't shift like Integra trannies (light and quick). They are all old, but let's face it, FCs are cheap, and so are we.

You can get a shop to rebuild that tranny of yours, but I would just buy another one used on ebay or something. Some sell for $100 plus shipping.

get syn

just like oil the viscosity of the fluid changes. Syn helps in the cold by not having such a wild range of viscosities.

i had an fc that wouldn't go into second until about 10 min. of driving.

First, check the oil level in your transmission. Make sure it's full. Second, If you haven't changed your tranny oil in awhile, you may want to consider changing it to synthetic like someone suggested.

Once or twice I shifted hard into third and it missed the gear completely. It slid into a slot just to the left of where it should have been.

On cold mornings my fb needs to warm up in order to shift smoothly.
