Will an 89-91 turbo and manifold bolt on to a 87 TII??

I have an 87 TII and I found an excellent price on a low-mileage 89-91 turbo and exhaust manifold that I'm looking to swap into my 87 turboII. The reason I'm doing this is my old manifold is cracked and leaking, and my turbo is starting to get older now as well, and the price I found is so good, it would be cheaper to do this than getting just a new manifold from Mazda. Question is, is this a bolt-on job? What else would have to be done to put in an 89-91 turbo and manifold on an 87 car? Thanks.

It should bolt right on. I gave my 89-91 turbo to my friend, and it went right onto his 87 TII.

Not only does it bolt right up, it is an upgrade over the 87-88 turbo and manifold.

Hey, that's great to know, thanks for the info guys. Well I've decided I'm gonna do this, now the next step is to figure out if I'm getting screwed or not with the parts. This guy is selling both the 89-91 manifold and turbo for $130. It sounds really cheap to me, that's why I wanna do this before someone else buys the parts from him before me. All he said in the ad is it's from a J-Spec engine that had 30-40,000 miles on it. He said they are both in excellent condition, NO cracks. I really dont wanna get screwed over here, I know that buying parts off the net is a gamble, but the price is so right, I have to be interested. Any second opinions or advice on this? What should I do?

Send it through escrow, that should put you in a postion not to get the wrong or broken parts. You might also want to try paypal, but a bit more risky.

Somebody is a big A-hole, Huge A-hole. I wasn't always a member of the rx7 forum. I used to live at the tri7 club. Through a mistake at mazdarecycling.com I found documents that listed 10 brand new 89 turbos for 400 a piece. I emailed him and he said he didn't know if it would fit or work with the 87 ecu, so I told him I wanted one and I would get back to him. So I sent a email to the club group and I got a couple of replies saying it wouldn't work with the ecu. So I go back to the site and the turbos were now listed a 800. The guy said he made a mistake and the turbos price was doubled (obviously he didn't know about turbo prices). He said he would honor the price because I had spoke with him before, but I told him the turbo wouldn't work anyway so to forget it. I later sent my turbo to majesticturbo.com and got the rebuild and 300 RWH upgrade for 650+shipping. But the point is I just found out that I could have used it and I feel I have been screwed by the people of tri7.

Damn

Hey while you're at it if you can afford it, have the turbo upgraded. it'll help out your torque curve in staying flat instead of peaking and then dropping. that's the problem my friend and i had. he did it and now his car PULLS all the way to 7,200 rpms when he shifts. really nice.....

Is there any HP increases to upgrading to the 89-92 intake manifolds?
