not without changing a bunch of parts, like the starter, flywheel, clutch, clutch slave, drive shaft, rear end (or have a custom drive shaft made), tranny mounts, etc.

I did it twice and yea, it's a pain in the *** but well worth it. The turbo transmissions have a better shifter feel to them (or at least both of mine did). They are much stronger and the shorter gearing in 5th is better too.

try the M50 from the verts... that has the best shifter feel of all of them

I don't see why you would want to, unless you were planning on making enough to really destroy your standard N/A transmission. I mean, for starters the transmission itself costs twice as much, then you have to get a all the parts Icemark listed. If you didn't want to swap out the rear end and driveshaft, you could buy the Mazdatrix driveshaft that connects a TII transmission to an N/A rear end, but if you're making enough power to really necessitate a TII transmission, you'd grenade your N/A rear end in a short while anyways.

Basically, it's not worth it for most every N/A out there. Plus, with the N/A transmission you get a taller 5th gear, which (although this is debatable) can give you better gas mileage.

So what should i do?

Well you mentioned why change it? Well for one i have a 88 turbo 2 that is not running and is a parts car. The tranny is good but i think the one in the 91 rx 7 is going out. I also want limited slip in the back. The one on there is no fun when you try to take off, i dont feel like it is getting it's full potential to the ground because only one wheel is turning when i peel out. So is it possible just to change the differential and keep the stock transmission and driveshaft? I noticed the 91 non turbo hits high speeds very smooth and hits high speeds with no stress. The turbo 2 has lots of power taking off bottom end and mid range. The only thing with the turbo 2 is it dont have much power after 115 like the non turbo. It seems like the motor is under lots of stress when going that fast

You again would need a custom drive shaft to use a Turbo rear end with a non turbo tranny.

If you don't want custom parts, then it's pretty much an all or nothing thing for any of the drive line parts. Either all Turbo, or all Non Turbo.

doing the complete swap is not really all that hard, just that most of the time you have to do everything twice, drop from donor and your car..... But as Icemark said either one or the other or have a custom driveshaft made up.

tranny mount is no the same on the GTU, it set back about 3 inch back on the body compare to the 86-88 rx's (at lease on mine because i had AT), i had to custom made one for now plus mazdatrix sells a custom Dshaft for turbo tranny on N/A cars

AT and manual tranny mounts are in different locations... you can't really compare
