Will a 4 puck clutch in a daily driver ruin the tranny?

Ok so I bought an 88 GTU recently that has a light flywheel and an ACT 4 puck clutch. The car is fun as hell to drive but recently I've been warned that it could ruin my tranny, even with easy driving. I do drive it easy alot but I definately find myself doing quick shifts and the occasional hard launch. The car has 143k miles on the body and 6k miles on the clutch.

So does anyone have an informed opinion on this? Should I get rid of the thing, and if so, how soon?

aitn gonna ruin your tranny unless you don't shift it right.. but if you grind the gears and slam the clutch like a maniac.. it will beat the internals to a pulp eventually.

The severity will be worse on a unsprung disc, but i can't imagin driving a 4 puck, l;et alone an unsprung one as a daily driver in the morning traffic around here.. that would suck ***

its DEFINATELY going to shorted the flywheel life.. nature of the beast... the sintered pucks will wear out the surface of the flywheel faster than organic discs, should still get another few years out of the clutch and flywheel though.

Ive actually wondered about this as well. I have a ACT stage 3 installed and have been thinking if it will have a shorter life since its gonna be my daily driver starting in january. Sorry to cut in, ill just wait for more answers along with you.

well i run a unsprung 6-puck w/ 9lb wlywheel and have put 8k miles on it with about 6k of city driving and the tranny has acted the same as it did with the stock clutch, and can also say it's very easy to drive just your shifting has to become much more precise, rev matching is a necessity.
