Wierd problem 87 Tii
THis has been bugging me for the longest time. For some reason the AFM flap does not flap or affect anything when unplugged or even tooken off. I just replaced the intake manifold since it had a big crack it it, but it still does the same thing. It idles erratically when timed right. I have evey emmision piece off and premixing. Also the stock boost gauge stoped working and when the I try to rev up fast it hesitates really badly and stalls out. Anybody ran into this?

Keep Right Except to Pass
Hey man I feel your pain. I've been watching this and hoping one of the gurus would reply.
I too am fighting a hesitation problem from Hell. Big throttle inputs give me a stumble and then it takes off like a rocket. Mine also hesitates once bad right when you let off the throttle.
So does your fuel pump run the whole time the key is on or are you saying that the yellow coupler doesn't run the pump with the key on?
It sounds like a problem with the AFM. Do you have another to try? Have you thoroughly checked it out? I doubt it's the ECU, but if you've got the spare parts to slap in there it might be worth trying. Wow, putting in a whole new engine->ecu harness would be a pain. I wonder about mine sometimes and have thought about this with much consternation.
And if your boost gauge isn't working I would check out the pressure sensor to make sure it's functioning like it should. This also seems like it could cause hesitation issues. I've heard that on some cars the pill/orifice makes a big impact also.
I'm not sure what else to offer.

I have tried putting my n/a in the Tii but the same thing happens but when I put the TII in the n/a it ran just fine. Anyway all I did to take the harness out was take off the intercooler and UIM and disconnected everthing. Took me about 10 minutes of course without the dash in the car.
