why wont my door panel lights work??

my door panel lights wont work, they're not blown, also the light that is next to the sunroof works if i turn it on but if i turn it to the right (which is supposed to turn it on if a door is opened) it doesnt work...

any ideas???

yep, your door jam contacts are rusted/corroded. all you do is pull back that little black cover and unscrew it.. then sand both sides (the side on the car, and teh side on the switch), and make sure they get good contact. screw it back down. seal it up with a bit of caulking (optional) to make sure it doesn't get rusty again.. or just buy new ones, I think the ones for my eclipse were only 2.50 apiece at the dealer, mazda can't charge much more for them.

Just in case you didn't know where to look, open the door, look on the door jam, on the lower right (toward the rear of the car), you can't miss it.
