Question why wont adjusting my tps work?

Ive been trying to adjust my tps recently but it just doesnt work. Im doing it exactly the way the FSM says. I warm up the car, turn it off warm, and connect the light to the green 3 prong connector next to the boost sensor. (i have the N370 one installed).
The lights wont come on no matter how much i turn it clockwise. If i tighten the idle screw all the way, i get bouncy idle, and if i turn it towards the loose end, i get stuttering deceleration under 3200 and lots of backfiring.
Lights dont come on if i press down the throttle with it attached either.
Im reading constand .8xx on my SAFC for throttle sensor no matter how i turn it. My idle sits at around 11-1300.
Is there something i have to do differently becuase the fsm says not to mess around with it enless installing a new one.

Don't use the light method. Use an ohmmeter and adjust the TPS for 1K when closed.

That said, it sounds like your TPS is bad.

yeah, the lights worked before. i adjust it about 1 turn, and go look inside at the AFC to see the voltage.

You think i should try to skimp a TPS off someone? Im chanigng the engine pretty soon (ASAP when fc3s.org gets em in)

I have never had success with the lights. And adjusting for resistance is significantly more accurate.

I'd try a used TPS on the car to be sure.

use the AFC, thats the best reading. you want it at 1volt. but if it's not changing thats weid. get someone to push it in while you look at the screen. does it change?

If your TPS fails the simple Fuel Cut Method your TPS Is shoot. I too couldn't get a light reading from the TPS let alone It failed the Fuel Cut. I ended up buying a brand new one.

As Aaron said, I use the 1v method aswell except I go according to what my S-AFC says.

I prefer the volt method while setting the TPS...the Ohm is good for checking function of the TPS, setting to 1.00vDC is good while setting it...

Just stab a probe into the harness whiles it's plugged in and the engine is warm/or thermowax is disabled...

Another drunken post

With the Deceleration Control Sytem, do this.

1. Hold the engine rpm @2000rpm
2.Check the engine speed varies when the TPS Is pushed In with your finger.

*Note* Do not push In the TPS all the way.

No speed variation, no good TPS. Be sure to make sure It's plugged In (of course) and the TPS Is set at 1v first. Although that Is not a requisite.

Holy crap! s5 TPS' are far more expensive than s4 ones. I payed under $200 can for mine with 20% discount and after taxes.

Yours probably could be attained for cheap through me due to the Canadian currency and discount. So If you'd like, I could get a quote for you and you could get It from me for far cheaper. I've seen Mazdatrix' quote on their site.

I'm always going to the Dealership for one reason or another (of course) and get It for you. I'll make not even a penny of you. I don't know. Just a thought. PM me If you are Interested.
