why are the TII trannys so damn expensive?
A high price for a used NA tranny is like 300 bucks.. most of the TII's im seeing on ebay are going for around 400. This seems a little steep to me... or is this a fair price?
A lot of it is because the turbo transmissions are a lot harder to break than the N/A ones. They are more tolerant of high horsepower application, jolting, grinding and so on. Also, probably a lot of it is that most people regard a turbo transmission as something good to have, so sellers jack the price up.
Turbo trannies can take like 300% more power than a FC NA can.
There are people running over 450hp at the wheels using them still.
The NA tranny is said to max out around 230ish RWHP.

Shipping alone would be more than what you could buy one locally for.
I'm in AZ. Not familiar with which province your situated in but it'll be like 200 at the least I bet.
It has a bad 2nd gear syncro and the nuetral switch and reverse switch have been removed.
You are right about me not knowing the HP max of a NA tranny. That's why is put "is said to be 230ish".
I am retaining my NA S4 LSD but have a TII engine and tranny now. I am hoping the halfshafts and reaerend will hold up

If you drag race, it breaks at relatively low power levels (I usually quote 200hp at the wheels).
If you don't drag race, it's going to hold up to a lot more power.
I've seen them break under 200hp.
I think it has a lot to do with high mileage transmissions that's common nowadays.
Bottom line, the turbo trans is stronger than the NA trans, period.

doesnt it also somewhat depend on the clutch that is being used on the tranny? i mean i know my clutch (act 6puck unsprung) is harder on drivetrains that most other clutches. and also woudlnt it matter on driving style? like high rpm clutch drops and etc..
LMFAO!!! you guys crack me up. Yeah i wouldnt use an N/A tranny as far as i can throw it.. but... a TII tranny is expensive, so i just take it easy on these sorry *** ones. Ive busted two.
