whats the big thing about porting?why should i do it?what would a street port cost me?i want to rebuild my engine so everyones telling me to port!what gains will it give my engine?besides porting im thinking about adding headers to my 86 13b.ive seen some nice racing beat ones.my exhaust from the converter to the muffler is racing beat so maybe i should just complete it with some headers!i dont know i need some advice bad!

Porting is the rotary equivalent to changing the cam in a piston engine. It changes the intake duration and opening size so the engine can gulp more air which = more HP. What you'll give up is low end torque (like there's a lot now) and gas mileage. If you plan to autocross your car, be very careful about porting. It is illegal in all except prepared classes.
