Why no 13bTT 2nd gens?

I've seen 13BT, 13B, 20B, 20BT, 20BTT in 2nd gens...why doesn't anyone do a 3rd gen motor swap???? I mean, wouldn't it be better then just swapping in a regular 13BT?? Is there some reason why its not done? Any info is appreciated...

from what I gather, pain in the ***, and not enough horsepower to be worth it. So it they are going to go with a complicated swap they go with the 20b and so on. Dont know much about the swaps though.

Yep, it's like a 1/2 gain.
A 13b-rew is an upgrade. and a 13b with larger single tubo is an upgrade to that. Might as well skip the REW, save hundreds of dollars, and get a more reliable and powerful one.

From what I understand the 3rd gen motor has different motor mounts, so it is not an easy bolt in. Also, it is basically the same internally. You can get just as much power out of the 13bT as the 13brew, its just different stuff thats bolted onto them. Side by side the blocks are realy similar, except that one bolts in and one does not.
Why fool with the one that does not?

Exactly. Only way to mount the 3rd Gen into a second Gen is to rebuild the motor using a 2nd Gen center housing.

Also, it seems you would have to hack away sheet metal in the 2nd gen engine compartment so you can fit in the stock turbo's, etc. But, if your want to stay stock, wouldn't it be nice in a Vert......................sigh.

You could hybrid one with -REW rotor housings if you felt like it. BOOSTD7's car is built that way.

I'd like to do an FD motor in my RX2 cause I heard the rear plate was a lot stronger than the 13BT's.

If you make your own custom mount, you can fit everything in the FC. Greg Coe was able to fit the 13brew with the 13brew wiring harness into his NA FC
