Is this why my windows are not working? **pictures**

Drivers side window has stopped working....i think I've found the problem but I'm no electrical expert. Can an someone confirm this? And is there a way i can solder or fix this?

I'm not so sure those are supposed to contact, at least not 100% of the time, because that X shaped connector thing looks plastic and the metal strips wouldn't touch. Yes, it may be why your windows aren't working, but if that's plastic you might try a dab of gorilla glue or plastic weld epoxy stuff.


edit: OH WAIT, those look a lot like motor brushes. Are they? If so, they do not go together... also, if they are motor brushes, it looks like the one on the left is worn beyond repair and must be replaced.

motor brushes should be in contact with the amatuer, electricity shoots through them and thats who it spins.. That one looks super worn out.

its actually not worn out....it broke, i found the chunk in the assembly. Want to see if i can solder it somehow, but cant find my iron.

You can't solder that, you replace the part.

and I doubt that, that issue would stop the window from working unless the broken brush was shorting out or the remaining brush was not touching at all.

you would have to replace the whole brushe. if you have a local electric motor re builder he may have the part but it could be motor specific.
