why does my temp gauge not work??

can anybody tell me wut plug is the one that the temp gauge reads off of? bcuz i have all the ones that i think would matter and my temp gauge still doesnt work! anybody have any input? (BTW; im talking about the stock temp gauge, and the car is an 87 TII) thanks for any help

My guess would be that the temp sender is bad.

ok found it, the problem isnt the sender, its the plug that goes into it, it was all smashed up and it ws opnly the plastic housing around the plug that was left in it. so now the question is, where can i get one of these plugs? are they the same on TII's and N/As?
