mine were broken, faded, and had water in them, they were just all fucked up in general, when i took them off, the mounts on the lenses themselves broke on one of them, and i could tell they were jb-wielded back together, they were just plain shot.

minor minor wreck...cracked one, other did the stud thing......I don't hate how it looks without them either tho, so until I polish them and get my car painted I probably won't put them back in..........as for buying brand NEW ones.....HA, like I'm gonna shell out $180 for a small plastic item that break when you just try and take it off, I think it's crazy to buy new ones, but then if you have the money for it....

I have one with good stud mounts and the other has one broken stud mount, I'm just going to epoxy a stud onto the lense and put them back in. On my last car I just epoxied the lenses to the bumper, hahah, pretty dumb, but yah, it worked.

The studs always seem to break when you remove your FTP lenses. Easy fix with some 2 part epoxy, just make sure they are perfectly aligned. I did this on mine and I couldnt even brake the studs off after it dried. Then just polish (polish carefully - plastic burns easy) and reinstall! Good as new!

so it seems like the only way to fix them is to dump tons of epoxy on the studs. took mine out tonight to polish them and of course studs were all sorts of cracked and came right off. i didnt have them for a while and took some off another car i have and set them in my project after polishing and felt dumb for never fixing my old ones

talk about thread revival, its almost a year since last post lol
Mines fell off when I was braking comming off an offramp from the highway....it slided under the car infront of me (which I didnt know) then I ran it over (which at that point I was like wtf was that) got home and saw the driver side missing...
Lucky I had another set but the driver side one had the stud loose.
I was going to take both mines off but with some jb weld between the stud and the ftp and it stays like a charm.

i was lucky to score a set on a vert S4 at the junk yard.. great condition besides the horrible oxidized lense and pealing clear coat.. bought em anyways since finding these in the junk yard is rare..
Sanded em with really fine sand paper and polished em.. 800 grit, then 1200 then 2000grit *i had for model cars* then hit em with toothpaste as a polishing agent, then some brasso and boom super nice =p.
I perfer the look over without em.

I took mine out because the PO cut them up a bit to fit some foglights that were not hooked up nor worked at all. Needless to say, I pulled out the useless fogs and noticed that one of my FTPs also had a broken stud that was glued back on. Oh well, maybe I'll go jump in a junkyard to get myself a decent pair later.

Do the jspec's have different ones to you guys? Mine has bulbs in em, they are my parking lights. Arent yours just a clear screen that runs of the headlights?

yea, i think the usdm is just s clear lens... then you high beam to do the "flash to pass." unlike the jdm counter part which actually has a bulb with it.
i think if someone or company can make modernized ones, it'd be great. and with stronger studs or screws to reinforce them on. i was thinking something like how the FDs have them, except excluding the signal light.
