Why cant we add more rotors to our engines??
Ok so this is a topic that ive never seen really discussed in this forum and it has always been somthing that ive wondered.
Lets say that you added 2 more rotors to a 13b, woudlent that double the size of the engine and potentially double the output of a rotary. I mean with the 20b its 3 rotor, but why did they stop there?? Why not go for a 4 rotor N/A that would produce even more HP. What would it take to do somthing like this?

Emissions is the main reason that I can think of...Notice the stock 2 rotor has somewhere in the neighborhood of a jillion cats attached to it. Think of the size of the ******* cats a 4 rotor would legally require? YOud probably have to put them in a side car or something.

Not only that, if we added 2 more rotors, it will mess up the great 50/50 balance of the car and add a higher tag to the purchase price if it was ever made.

They do make a 4-rotor, I have the link somewhere. Its expensive as hell, but it makes some ungodly amount of Hps, like 1000 I think....Where is that damn link...

HOLY MOTHER OF UNGODLY THINGS!
THATS AWSOME!
Hey Jrat thanks i really had no clue they existed and im glad it does, The emmissions part of the whole idea makes me realize that this idea is complety not feasible.
Thanks

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Long e-shafts are expensive to make strong enough not to break. Long intake and exhaust manifolds are also more expensive, and such an engine would weigh 2x+ what a 13b weighs, because not only are you doubling size/mass, but you're adding more on top of that for additional strength. FOr instance, a 20B weighs MORE than 150% of a 13B.

it sounds crazy but i had the idea once that you could take the new renesis and apply that technology and what you would have would be something like a solid maybe 700 horses NA and not only that the engine is lighter and you wouldnt have the emmissions problem nor the fuel consumption true?

www.evil7.com has some real badass 2 and 3 rotors
and theyve made 4 rotors before, mercedes benz made one a long time ago, so did mazda, they just never put them into production.
They have made "aftermarket" 4 rotors too from cusotm e-shafts.
Someone even made one by bolting 2 13b's together.
