My computer did some weird stuff when I tried to post that. This post is messed up.
Any way,
I have been trying to set my TPS. I made a test lamp from LEDs. it didn't work. NOw I know why. all three connectors on the green plug behind the air filter have a voltage of 13.2 when the key is in the on position but the motor not running. so what is supposed to be ground, isn't. Messed up.
So I check the other sensor, the white on behind the air filter. remembering I saw an FAQ that said to use this instead, or I had it confused and I was supposed to be using this one anyway. But I could remember settting the TPS on my '88 with the gren one. anyway all four of the connectors tested 1.4v but one that was 13.2v
I hope I remember all of this correctly, it has been several hours since I posted the origonal.
So I tried to set it myself anyway, making a ground for the LEDs. both were on. I had to turn over 5 full turns to get on LED to go off. I started to doubt my self again. manually depresing the sensor. finally got it right I think, but it still does the hesitation in the high RPM.
Not just once but several times. Like a surging without a timing pattern.
It doen't do it as badly but it is still there.
any ideas?

are you setting it with a warm engine? if not you will go crazy tryin to get it to set. (don't ask how i know that)

if that doesn't help, i just got done dealing with a massive hesitation issue and it looks as if it was my AFM and i was having similar probs to yours.

good luck, have fun

Or it could be the pressure sensor, those are known for causing hesitations when they're not working/not hooked up/no restrictor pill in the line!

Its a orifice and its located in the boost/pressure sensor line. Search for orifice and you'll find the part number, sooner or later. I've posted it at least twice.

To set TPS in a s4 Turbo, warm engine to normal operating temp. Then shut car off. With key turned to the "on" posistion but engine not running, back probe the green wire using a DMM set to a 12v scale. Adjust the screw right beside the TPS till your DMM reads .98volts. Now your tps is set.
