Who's Removed There Heat Shield?

long story short.....I bought an 85 gsl-se header that bolts to my 13B but the header hit a bolt that connects the heat shield. IT's in good shape but it's just pissing me off every time I drive the car as it rattles against the damn bolt.....has anyone removed there heat shield in the cat region?

Thanks

Wouldn't that cause a lot more heat under the hood that you don't really want? I'd just bend it or stick something not flamable between the olt and the heat shield. My 2cents

you would be throwing a ton of heat up in the already hot engine bay. not recommended.

Can you bend or bang the heat sheild around to shape it so it doesn't come in contact?

i've heard of lots of ppl massaging the firewall back to accomodate bigger engins/mods/whatever. unless the firewall and heat sheild are 2 differant things (i'm new to the tech aspect of the car) it's totally a possibility.

if your talking about the heat shield on the main cat then i have and it hasen't affected anything, i took it off cause it was rattling and and i ddn't want to mess with it if the heat shields for the header or manifold just get a ballpin hammer and make it pay for rattling by bashing the crap out of it until it fits right....ok just read the post again and just remove the bolt it's hitting against and take some tie wraps or wire preferable wire, and tie the heat shielding to the fire wall or something so it doesn't rattle

(Big Wankler using whofarzed's comp)

I'm not taking off the heat shield for weight reduction....it would be like 2 pounds= gerble power

Anyhow, I just need that part off so it doesn't bump against my header. How many of you have heat shileds around your headers?

I already struggled with the bolt.....stripped the damn thing. Goign to NAPA to burn it off..can't they do that?

Thanks

ummm, none of my cars have ever had heat shields over the header, i dont notice that much engine bay heat coming from it on my cars, i remove almost all the heat shields, except the one by the gas tank where my muffler is dont need a hot gas tank lol
