Who's got LSD?
Who's got LSD?
Those who've read my other post know I am considering a 2nd generation. I'd like to stick to an 89-91 if possible, and wanted to know:
1. Was LSD available on any models besides the Turbo
2. How can I tell if a particular car has LSD? Is there a VIN decoder anywhere?
3. If it doesn't have LSD, is it worth putting one in?
I have searched far and wide for differences between the models, but still cannot find a definitive answer to the LSD issues I mentioned.

some GXLs had lsd i think. the GTUs did too. i think it was an option on all upper level FCs. of course all turbos had them. the differential should have an LSD marking somewhere on it i would think. yes it is worth putting one in.
GTUs:Yes
GXL:Yes
GTU:Some yes, some no
Coupe:Some yes, some no
LSD equipped differentials have a metal tag on the fill bolt on the differential housing that says something like only use LSD fliud. No VIN won't show on like a Carfax, but check w/ Mazda USA. They can tell you. Yes, LSD is a GOOD idea and a worthwhile swap. No, even used they aren't cheap.
