who is using a T2 Hood on a NA car?

I had the guy put a T2 hood on my S5 NA since he was kissing up to me and he told me I needed to block off the vent because of water.

why? what harm will that do unless it is really coming down hard?

I was kinda hoping to let some cool air in the engine bay with it thru the vent.

I was wondering about turbulence though.

Me and my coworker have ran this way through rain snow hail and just about everything else. The car will be fine unless you drive through a lake.

The water that might get in is harmless.
The hood bulge looks cool.
The extra air inlet has no effect on an NA.
If it's aluminum - that's the real benefit.

well, I didnt think the air coming in would help much but surely it couldnt hurt to have cooler air come in under the hot hood.

anyhow I was going to see in I could fabricate a duct system to the airbox and supply cool air to engine filter.

I am not going with a cone for now till I figure out a way to do it the way I really want it.

On my way to Georgia thru many rain storms I ended up with a pretty wet filter and the car actually died at one point driving down the road with heavy rain .

So I decided I do not like the filter down in the front bumper area by the brake duct. it is too low.

the current car will have to settle for a panel K&N.

naw, waste of time, get your air from were the airbox is or from infront of the radiator, and if you want the T2 hood to vent the engine, cut some holes at the back of the scoup so it can force air out, That should have many benifits, but dont worry with making it for your air intake, thats just a waste of time.

Screw everything i said, if your car is silver, just sand the hood down, and paint the ducting(i think its plastic) black, and brush it with a wire brush in 1 direction, then clear coat it a few times, dont paint it, trust me this should be bitchin.

well, I knew that the hood wasnt going to make the car faster or anything. that is the reason I got it, cause it looks good.

the guy owed me money and I didnt want to risk not getting it at all so I took the hood while I had a chance.

now, them Japanese stickers.....thats what makes the car faster....

You don't need to worry about water. I've heard several people call a TII hood on an N/A "rice". I disagree...the hood looks cool as hell, and if I didn't have a TII I wouldn't mind putting a TII hood on my N/A. Fortunatly I have both! MUAHAHAHAH!

i think someone had mentioned that the TurboII hood uses beefed up hinges because of the increased drag caused by the Scoop......just what i remember hearing so you might want to research, or use hood pins, oh and my N/A hood is aluminum

tha alluminum is worth it. i just bought a n/a aluminum hood off a buddy and it was definetly worth it, it doesnt do one thing signifigantly better like a cold intake, or upgraded brakes, rather it helps everything out just a little bit so its worth it. the steering actualy felt MUTCH better just getiing that 25-30 lbs of the front wheels.

I was actually considering doing this to mine too cause it just looks cool. But I have decided just to get a TII instead. Anyways, hell yeah to putting a TII hood on a N/A. I feel you on the look.

which years on the T2 were steel?

I think mine may be steel. I went and checked it and it felt heavier than my aluminum hood I had..

when we put it on we had help so I didnt notice....

I did notice that my hood has all Japanese writing under hood and not the usual English.
