With my s5 TII Conversion I have a s6 Flywheel on It's way.

Are you aware that the FD uses a "pull type" clutch?

Flywheel doesn't matter, we used an FD Flywheel on NOTA944's RE Conversion. Worked just fine..

Thanks for the heads up. In fact, Derek Is the one who brought this to my attention. I like the fact that the FD Flywheel Is 6lbs lighter.

I paid $40 shipped. Half of that being In shipping fees.

BlueTII,

the flywheel should be interchangeable, just not the clutches; Unless you are using a twinplate clutch, then it doesnt matter...

With the loss of 6lbs, that should count for a better throttle response...heck. With my Aluminum Flywheel (current but soon to be former setup) the throttle response Is very noticible. For example, at Idle, I'd just tap the throttle. I'd see my rpms jolt up to 4g like It was nothing.

silver rotor...i know you got it for only 40 bucks, but for the trouble you have to go through to disassemble the trans to get to the flywhell, you should get a good gen ii alluminum flywheel. The T2 flywheel weighs 28 pounds...the 3rd gen TT's flywheel weighs 20 pounds. You save a solid 8 pounds in weight there. For performance reference, on a FC, every pound off of the drivetrain is relative to 2.7rwhp. so your gaining about 20hp at the wheels there. Consider this though, replace your current clutch with a 9.5 pound, 2nd gen specific chromoly flywheel, and you will save 18.5 pounds (making a gain of approx. 50rwhp!) for the money and time, to gain 30 more at the rear wheels, screw the FD flywheel and go with the chromoly 2nd gen wheel.

Thanks for the advice but I'm finding myself In a deficit with this project. Not bad but noticable. Especially with all the accessories ie Microtech L8, Boost Gauge, Boost Controller, BOV. Considering I'll be rebuilding It and sending It out for a SP.

i got my 12 lb(including the counterweight) aluminum flywheel for 450 bux i think, was worth every dime... but i don't see how saving 6-8 lb's is so worth it, sounds like nickel and diming to me
