As far as I know, you don't need a liscense. I don't have one and I'm a member. FWIW the comp. engine mounts combined with the comp. transmission mounts and the comp. front diff. mount were the best mods. I made to my car. They give the car a much more direct/sporty feel and take out all of the "rubberband" feeling in the drivetrain. I love the way they made my car feel. Of course.....my old mounts were probably all broken/worn out anyway.

I thought you could still buy competition parts even without being a member. Even if you have to be a member, all you have to do is send in a picture of your car saying that you are building it to race (even autocrossing is just fine unless they have changed something) and they will sell you the parts.

Todd

PS. Mazdacomp is one of the best programs around. They have made it possible/affordable for me to rebuild my car from the ground up.

1) Here are the Mazdaspeed requirements:
http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/weba...et/TeamSupport

2) Join your local SCCA. In most regions, if you join the SCCA at an autocross event, then the event is free, so ask about this before you join as you may have a chance to kill two birds with one stone. Unless Mazdaspeed has changed their policy, autocross and rally events count for their annual "race" requirements, and the results are posted in the local SCCA chapter monthly magazine and/or on their web site. Here is the link to your local SCCA chapter:

you can buy the comp parts from them. You just cannot buy the factory parts at a discount. I called up and ordered stuff for my cosmo before.

That was MazdaComp before they went to being Mazdaspeed.

Mazdaspeed won't let you order unless you're a member.

They changed their policy about a month ago.

"MAZDASPEED MOTORSPORTS DEVELOPMENT will NO LONGER be selling to non racers. You will need to be a registered member of our program, with current race results, to purchase ANY parts from us. You will also need to log in with a valid ID and password, to view our catalog.

It has been our policy in the past that if someone still wished to purchase a competition part, even though they weren't a member, we would still sell it to them. This is longer the case. (It will take some time for us to update all areas of our site to reflect this.)"

I say again....they will sell you the parts. Send them a photograph and a statement saying you are building it to autocross and give them an expected completion date. IIRC you have one year to start racing and send in your results. This is how I became a member.
