A Turbo, V8, or a supercharger... really isn't a normally aspirated bad *** 13B.

I posted my non-turbo 13B 'vert putting out around 200 FWHP and meeting CA emissions a couple months back if you want to search.

Um... when he said fwhp, he was referring to flywheel horsepower, not front wheel.

you have to convert it to produce power at the flywheel? That's not good. Back to the drawing board.

???

Okay maybe this will help the jokers...

between 160 and 170 rear wheel dyno horse power (depending on the dyno)

That is up from the 112- 120 rear wheel dyno horse power that a normally aspirated stock FC has.

Peripheral Port engines can be built to be quite reliable..
I've heard of N/A PP's lasting near on 80,000km's...
All depends how careful you are with blocking the water off, as 99% of the time that is how they fail.

While I personally would not call my newly rebuilt n/a engine 'bad ***' at all, it has reasonably aggressive intake ports and quite large exhaust ports.. So after it's run in i'll have to take it to a dyno to get a bit of a reading.

Before this engine blew I had a turbo(slightly bigger than a stock one) strapped onto the side of a completly stock 150,000km old N/A engine which was making quite good butt dyno power and did some really good burnouts. Only reason it blew was because of a fsck up on my part (wategate issue... 18psi.. stock injectors.. search for the post I made about it a while back no point cluttering up this thread)

But if you want a real 'bad ***' N/A fc without a turbo or supercharger you'd need either a bridgeport or Peripheral port IMHO. You could buy a 'crate' sort of BP engine from some of the race engine builders here in Oz(no doubt elsewhere aswell) that make ~300hp.. Very well built engines.. Expect to pay through the roof though, it costs alot more money to get the same ammount of power out of an N/A engine than it does a supercharged engine(turbos included in that...)

I see, dont scare me there.

And yes N/As are still RX-7s, they can still handle a road course or autoX like its nobodies business. Hell an modded n/a can outhandle a modded TII due to the weight difference.

Everything is related to relitivity. A N/A that runs 13's in the quarter in my opinion is not always, in my opinion "badass". If you want a drag car then yes a 13 sec N/A rx-7 is bad ***. If you like audio equiptment then an FC with 10k in subs and tv's is bad *** to you... To me my 87 SE is pretty bad ***. I can Have a lot of fun autocrossing with it while being very competitive, It looks good, it is a pretty reliable daily driver and I can smoke any kid with a "fixed up" honda in town. I get respect from the drag racing croud with the 70's fierebirds built out the nose, even though i can't beat them I can pull on them in a couple gears as well as hang out near there rear bumpers stoplight to stoplight. The rx-7's are good looking, reliable and are a blast to drive even without the surge of a turbo. I love my 87se and i probably will go turbo some day when i have more cash, but in the mean time i am going to make my N/A as bad aass as I can afford.....
