Who is interested in buying rebuilt transmissions?

I've been thinking about rebuilding FC manual transmissions from new/new-old-stock parts, and I am wondering how many people are seriously interested in buying one.

I would like a situation where people send in a transmission, I take it apart and determine what parts need to be replaced, and then charge them for cleaning, parts replaced, labor, and shipping both ways.

Prices would vary this way, but still be relatively cheap for you, and my own pay (labor) would be the same to me regardless of how many parts I bought.

That said, I'm unclear as to the average cost of a rebuilt transmission for an RX-7, so if you want to offer your experiences, please feel free to post.

It doesn't really matter to me if it's a Mazda transmission or whatever, but this is where I've decided to try out the interest. I originally started here.

I can't afford to offer warrenty, but I would consider letting people send "failures" (hopefully there would be none) back to me to fix it for free labor, except for the cost of parts.

All transmissions would be rebuilt to spec, excepting the addition of any different parts requested by the customer. All transmissions would be assembled and inspected to ASE standards and practices.

I don't remember if this belongs in the parts section, since I currently have nothing for sale. This is for interest only, but please feel free to move the post and I apologize for any inconvienence if I'm posting in the wrong area.

As for the different supplies of transmission misc parts, part networking in urban Chicago has excellent benefits. The Mazda Trix pamphlet is a serious note not to be taken lightly, but it can be contended with.

Perhaps we should start with a list of all the manual transmissions made avaliable for the FC, and go from there. Let's do a priority of commonality, as well. Least to greatest.

Anyone care to start?
