Who has wired their VDI open?

I am about to do an 89 intake swap onto my 86GXL. To keep it simple, I am thinking about wiring open the VDI. To those who have done this, did you notice a loss in low end power? Any other effects? Thanks.

I thought about it, but I've never heard of anyone doing it. I think I'll try it, and I'll get back to you.
I've actually heard that a ported s4 manifold flows better, why not just do that?
