Who has an open exhaust and does not backfire?

What did you do to get rid of it? Or is this just a wishful thinking?

My car doesn't backfire :/
I only went up to 7000 RPM though, didn't try 8k yet.

Or maybe that's cause I haven't driven her hard enough yet?

Hahaha, have you checked your timing at all? I believe retarded timing causes backfiring/farting, time to get a light!

Hey, who you callin stupid? I had that issue on the old NA i drove, checked the timing and it was horribly retarded, adjusted it and it went away, and ReTed once told me backfiring and farting is almost always timing related, and he was quite right

Open exhaust means no exhaust, just headers. Is this what you mean?

Advance your timing and run 89 octane. I do that with my car, and it WILL NOT backfire, ever. I have a custom true dual exhaust, no cats, no emissions crap, no air pump, etc.

How far can I advance my timing with mods like yours and A S-AFC leaned out?

Some poeple I remember said 30 degrees with streetport ITS cars or something but I was wondering if 20 degrees would be good for me.

ok, I think I'll advance my timing today. But do I really need to get higher octane?

peejay, open exhaust means header, no cats and high flowing mufflers.

Right now I run about 25 degrees on 89 octane, but Ive run as high as ~32 degrees on 93 octane. But you might want to be a little more careful since oyu have it leaned out on the S-afc.

You cant advance your timing very far with 87 octane. The higher octane you get, the more advance youll be able to run. 89 octane was a good compromise for me.

i tried to adjust my timing today but I can't see the marks with my timing light. I'm sure my timing light is ok coz we used it on my friend's car. what could be wrong?

Easy, your timing could be so retarded that it's not firing at a time where you can see the marks? That or they are blending it, you could try to put some white-out on them to make them show up better.

Would this backfire also happen with a FC Turbo with only a pre-CAT?-The rest is straight pipe

Could this back fire (if extreme) really cause your rotor to spin backwards?

What would be the end result?

PLEASE dont advance your timing 25 degrees over stock!!!! That is total advance at idle. I dont remember what timing exactly the stock ECU runs at idle, but I believe its 15-20 degrees.
