This thread has helped me feel a little better about my T2. It has its problems, but all of it can be fixed, itll just be a bitch. Only way Ill be happy with it, is when I got to rebuild the engine, Im going to redo ALL of the wiring I can find. Strip the interior and remove all of the floor pan noise reduction stuff. Tighten up all of the creaking interior panels that rattle and creak over every bump on the road. Get all new suspension bushings to stop the rattle. New or rebuilt steering rack. Mine is power but has been used as manuel for a long while now. Its loose and the boots are all torn to hell. Body needs to be blasted down to bare metal, I have the suspesion that it has been caoted with bondo in a few spots. Repaint it, new wheels and tires.... fix the sun roof and antenna (though I dont listen to the radio)... THEN maybe I will be happy with it. I just want to be able to drive it, have it act like it should, and not have to worry anon stop about what will break next. If only for a while. The way it is now, every time I drive it Im in a constant state of alert for a noise or smoke, or a smell. Which gets very stressful after a while.

I hate my car even more now. Just got in my Bonez intake kit, double alt. pulley and Cusco strut bar. It used to have a Cusco bar, but I sold it to get some extra $ when I was in a pinch. It fit before with just a hair of clearance, so I figured it would be the same this time. I go to bolt it on and it hits on the overflow nipple/line that goes to the overflow res. Im not sure why its doing this as I have new engine mounts that Im assuming are still in tact... Then I go to install my bonez intake, and not only will 2 of the bolts not fit, where the adaptor bolts to the afm (due to the inlet part where the filter bolts on being too close to the holes) but the filter and afm itself wont fit down inside the hole where the box used to be. I had to force the rubber piping back a good ways to make the filter sandwich down in there... uhg, problem after problem, they just dont let up their attack.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if both the S4 and S5 Koyo radiators have a filler/cap on the ratiator itself? So I can get the S5 thermostat housing and do away with the massive tower with cap assembly. Or would I have to get the S5 Koyo? Are the mounts for both S4 and S5 radiators the same? thanks

Good thread...lol. I was just thinking about selling my TII the other day and today, again. When I got my car, it had all sorts of exhaust and oil leaks(which ive fixed),the paint was wore out and the PPO(Previous Previous owner) had wired the running lights to turn on with the ignition(Have not been able to fix that yet...not good with wiring diagrams...grrr) so my interior lights only work with the ignition on. Found a melted wire going from the headlight switch to the main harness. There was also an alarm box under the dash...pretty sure the guy wired the headlight flash part of the system wrong causing an overload and he just rigged it up instead of fixing it. Idiot. My ac will only come on if I hold the key all the way on with the clutch not pressed in ...like im cranking the car without holding the clutch.
And now all of a sudden, the car has lost some of its power and when I rev the engine and bucks bad if im just cruising. Bought ready to push the car off a cliff.
Man I love my car.

My vert has been treating me well lately, except that my alterntor died, got a new one, then my battery died, got a new one, and tommorow when i wake up to goto school I hope I can turn my car on this time... And my cruise control(Not that id use it personally, its just one of the things that gets on my mind when i think of stuff thats wrong) doesnt work, and my passengers power window switch doesnt work. My body has so much dents and dings and paint chips, and over spray. Its not too bad, but it does go out of commision for a couple days to a few weeks every so often (I.E. my brake master cylinder failing, having the car come with almost no brake pads, getting the brake pads finnaly about 2 weeks later, only to notice i was sent the wrong ones -_-)

I have a ton of problems, but the major one is that my engine is blown.... I also just discovered that my oil cooler is seriously banged up and probably needing to be trashed. Then there's all sorts of body/trim/paint problems, but I really don't care about looks. It had a lot more problems (mostly electrical) when I bough it, but I have fixed most of them.

1. Engine leaks oil (whose engine doesn't?)
2. Could use a new paint job
3. Some of the plastic dash pieces are shot
4. All bushings need replacing
5. Needs a complete exhaust
6. New tail lights
7. A/c compressor

And probably some other stuff I have not found yet

I started a list 4 years ago and still havn't got 30% through it yet. Maybe I will reach 60% when I take it off the road.

Time and Money is the issue.

^ NOICE!

Let's see,
Needs a complete brake job. calipers stick, pads/rotors are beyond worn.

engine or turbo smokes oil... don't know who is the culprit yet, working on it

possible bad driveshaft/worn out hubs/ imbalanced tires. shakes bad at 60mph, then smoothes out until you're going faster than 80

need a white turboII hood, other paint is in pretty good shape

stereo is shot, only outputs bass to the speakers in radio mode, CD and tape deck are shot.

recently fixed my heater/ac ligicon /idiot lights. why they both use the same damn plug and why the previous owner had them hooked together is beyond me.

reverse lights dont work (need to hook up)

one of the drains for the convertible top is plugged. pasengers side turns into a moat when it rains.

wiper switch only works on the I setting (who's doesnt?)

need to reinstall AC

oh yeah, trans leaks oil like a siv. engine doesn't at all. go fingure?

thats all i can think of for now. engine runs like a champ though 84k miles on the never-rebuilt turbo II motor. FCD, fuel pump and RB exhaust. runs great, idles solid, never floods (knock on wood). i love every min. i'm in this car.
