Who has Broken the Rear Diff Mount bracket?
So i broke the rear Diff mount bracket on my car. I saw the s4 too s5 subframe swap pictures someone put up.. But has anyone come up with a cheap fast fix.
This is my every day driver, So its hard to put her up for a few days with the hours i work. Anyone Just weld it back? The metel peice on the subframe Itsself Broke!!
And i dont even have a turbo car. So HOW the hell can a turbo 7's get by without breaking this weak metal part on the subframe?
Are the tubrbo cars built differently when it comes to mounts?
I plan on getting a snubber However looking at the photos it comes no where near the rear diff. And IMO the mount would have to break agian before the Snubber even hits the rear Diff..
Any ideas would be great. Some people might say Just replace the subframe and get a snubber I know i know.. I just want to see if their is a cheap fix.
any ideas would be great TY

You can weld it back on for your purposes.
Also, the idea of a pinion snubber is that *when you've installed it correctly* the snubber will stop the diff's nose from coming up before the mount is stressed. Yes, you need to position it "off center" of the car's floor, but thats just where it needs to go to function properly.
And you could break a diff mount in these cars with 20hp. All you need is a rough/stupid/young driver who beats the **** out of the car.

I have a 'OK' temporary fix, but it does have the possibility of damaging the differential. It never damaged mine, but did make a little spot that was dented.
Find a long bolt that you can thread into the rear seat belt holes (underneath the bins in the transmission tunnel) (I re-tapped the holes for a bolt I could get at Ace) and the bolt will actually go down through the hole on the pass. side and land near/on the nose of the diff. The other side will land near/on the diff mount and this will restrict the diff. nose from slamming into the floor upon acceleration. I drove it pretty hard like this and took it down the 1/4 mile.
I ended up actually pulling my subframe, Cutting the existing mount off and having a thinker plate welded on and put on a Mazda Upgraded Diff mount on, no problems since. I could upload pics later...

Sounds like a neat temporary fix nick, I tried sticking a rubber block above or under or anywhere to stop the diff from moving but I couldn't figure out how to stop it, finally I just dropped the subframe, the diff, and replaced the rear mounts with solid delrin and the front with a used stock one.

Yea, I shoved a piece of wood in there for a little bit. Lol. The bolts worked for quite a while, but my diff started leaking, and I thought 'Oh sh@t' it cracked the housing, but it was the pinion seal and there was a little mark/dent where the bolt contacted the housing on the Pass side.
Definitely get one of these:
Made tightening the Front Diff mount way easy!
