there's an event coming up on May 25th, involving Signal Auto's famed drivers Fumiaki Komatsu and Kazuya Bai will be returning to Hawaii with their newly built "Drifter Twins" (S15 front Sil-Eighties) to challenge Hawaii's best drifters, that I will be entering.

You wouldn't say it was gay if you could do it.
Anyways. some one mentiond they needed water on the road to get there FC loose. You dont need that. get under and overstear and down shift. then POP, back starts to spin.

If you don't know what Komatsu's car looked like before, you should pick up a copy of GRIP Video Volume 2. There's footage in there from the last time Signal came down to Hawai`i.
UPDATE...i found the pic
if that doesn't work, here's the link

I drift 12-18 times a day, going to and leaving work. I love the tight corners. My friends (those with FF) hate me, sure they can get me in the straight aways, but when it comes time to corner, they slow to damn near 15mph giving me the lead. Just the look on their faces is priceless.
Sorry if those of you out there think drifting is 'gay', just because most of us can do it and you can't, just goes to show that most of everything is based on driver.

Compared to Japan the Kids in the US are 10 years behind. (Japan was drifting like we are in the US 10 years ago (yes.. we suck)) And im not suprised that in 3 or 4 years, every little **** highschooler is going to want a Hachi-Roku and be sliding rides. I can see it happening even now.
The fact of the matter is that I (and perhaps many others on the RX board) am/are on the forefront of a new sport for america. I love this sport called drifting, and no matter what little stupid kid picks it up because its a fad or a trend (not because the love it), is going to stop me from being a part of it. I want to be there to see drifting grow and become mature as a sport.
The people that will enter drifting "because everyone else is doing it", will get no respect, because they wont love it, and we will know who they are.
I will love cars untill the day I die. Untill then I will get sideways(at the appropreate time).
If anyone loves the sport and wants to give the sport of drifting a good name, only drift at events and "staff" pratices. (parking lots are ok ... Somtimes). Keep it off the streets. We should to try avoid giving it a bad rap.
Drifting is a lot of fun.....im still trying to lear (my tranny sucking dosent help me out too much), but when i first heard about it a couple of years ago, i used to take golf carts out in the rain and try to do it when i worked at a golf cours!

clutch dumps are effective but learning proper drift driving techniques will keep your drivetrain stronger over a much bigger time .
The old scandinavian flick helps on alot of them .

jus the fact that you lose control of you car and correct it makes it fun everytime in industrials and large large parking lots. whats sweet about Turbo II is that it has the stock LSD and that stock it has enough power to jus slide by throwing the wheel and pushing the gas.....whoooooooooom errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hahaha
Im only 17.. and yes i do own a 88' turbo II fc.. I was in the ricer phase because the rush of going fast in a FF...car and i saw alot of my friends get into accidents and tickets and suspended lic. i was like man i dont wanna do this anymore. One of my friends dad was a rally car driver for mitsubishi and he drifted here and the philippines and was in the 1996 option 2 videos. My friend lance had a AE86 and i thought it was the ugliest car i seen...and wondered why would you drive that. My friend lance got me into the drifting scene because its in his blood and i figured how hard is it to go straight.....It takes alot more that foot work and shifting to drift. so it the results became that you wouldnt have to spend on soooo much for engine work....just really suspension and lsd and stuff. well i respect all drifters i see on the street or freeway. I drive my fc and see a s13 or FC or Ae86 or a FD i just look at them and nod my head for respect......Fellow drifters are nice unlike ricey drag racers...all they think about is "ohh you wanna run so i can smoke u" they may go fast on straights but cant take a drifter at a turn.........
I don't go around saying I'm a drifter. That seems sort immodest. I am who I am. If I drift my car then so be it. Once I feel like I'm good then I'll start but until then...
Drifting in the US has come light years since I came back stateside in '98. The internet has played a huge part in this. Probably over 90%. After living in Japan for over four years introduced me to the car culture and I brought it back with me. When I came back and would talk about stuff over there people would just look at me funny as though I was making everything up. Now it's all over the internet. It's good to see it catching on over here finally. Sure, there are those that will hate and bad mouth it. There are those that will try it and stop if it doesn't feel like something they want to get into once the "cool" factor of it is lost and the reality of it sets in. Loads of maintenance, busted parts, tires, tires, and more tires. Not to mention all the hard work you have to do mentally to push yourself to do it again and again to get better. But it's the ones that stick to it that will progress and develop their skills. Those people will stick with it for years. This "fad" (as some call it) is here to stay.
