Who answers the smart guys questions?

There are a few guys that seem to answer almost all of the difficult questions in this section. But who answers their questions? For example: when ReTed has a question, where does he go for answers? It almost seems like these guys are just hanging around answering our redundant questions, but never posting any for themselves. I attempted to search for a thread in which ReTed asked a tech question, and I came up with nothing. I did see a few questions posted by some of the other really knowledgable guys (you know who they are) but in almost every situation there answers came from the other very knowledgable members. I'm just the curious type; and was just wondering where do they go from here? Is there another forum for the guys who need really serious problems solved? Just a thought ...

They probably break it down old school style and figure it out themselves, most likely, check and recheck everything to make sure everything is in good shape, if everyone followed this method alot of the problems asked would be answered even before they are asked. If not... they get a book or just say "F--- it!" and rewire and start everything over, haha, just a guess.

That's the advantage of a large group.

Maybe I know just a little, but I have seen a problem before that you haven't.
Or maybe they worked as mechanics at one time and saw it all.

even if you have seen it all, there are still going to be situations where you need advice. Professional racers still get stumped every now and then.

I post a lot of stuff (simple ones, things to check) but not too many people have S5 TIIs so when I ask where to find a 3"->2.5" adapter for the AFM, not too many people respond...already checked lowes and home depot...

Least I try to get the newer guys off the caps lock

I try to do the same. If I can answer a simple question I will. Kinda like a food chain; If some of us, not so inclined members, can answer the simple questions then the really inclined guys can concentrate on the more difficult stuff. In the end everyone ends up with an answer.

No one... When they don't know the answer, they just pretend like they do and make one up. J/K I agree... they probably just take it apart and figure it out for themselves.

Yeah. You should see the fender of my Protege.

Irv, Keith's dad helped me out with my TII and its fuse blowing ordeal. The FSM wasn't helping for ****. I tried for two days to fix it before I broke down and asked. It took my 15 minutes to fix it after he told me what to check

Hey you answered my last question Samps.

Turns out I wasn't holding the 'vert switch long enough (you got to hold it for a couple of seconds before it starts moving) and the CPU dinging while the top was moving was concerning me.

But yeah generally if no one answers I would get the books out and rip the car apart, and figure out what was up.

hey

Keith and Hialers are geniouses. I have learned alot from people not ansewering my questions or not being able to fix my car like at shops and what not...

This guy just kept saying he would install my afc forever. I gave up and did it myself... Now I know... another thing was adjusting the tps. Had to look here to learn because mechanic wouldnt do it... Figured out what was wrong with my coil and replaced it myself and saved money because meckanic wouldnt work on it. Basically did everything myself.

That's how you learn. Everyone I took my car to (my GSL) said I would need a carb rebuild. Turns out after asking in the 1st gen forum (one of my first few posts) it was a bad vacuum hose. $37 dollar fix v. $300 not even fixed...I am just a lil wary of doing the clutch myself...
