white startup smoke, fixed!!

yeah so just about every other time i start my car whether cold or hot, LOTS of white smoke would pour out of my exhaust! (sound familiar?) well, it was beggining to bug me...

so the other day i was replacing my thermostat when i broke the waterpump housing by tightening it too much......so i got a new housing, waterpump, upper & lower radiator hoses, and some RTV silicone sealant and tackled the job...cleaned all the surfaces where each gasket goes with some razorblades (took off ALL exsisting old gaskets/RTV), applied new RTV to ALL surfaces where gaskets touch, and VUALA! no more coolant leaks/smoke!! this has fixed the problem!

i suggest anyone experiencing white smoke out of the exhaust on startup or someone that loses coolant some how but you dont know where, to replace these items!!

but remember i have no cats, so theres nothing to suck up all this smoke anymore.... your car may be doing it as well but you might have your cats still and its sucking up all the smoke... either way if your waterpump/housing is stock (10+ years old!), you should take it apart replace the waterpump and add fresh gaskets with RTV... it works wonders!
