White smoke and won't go over 35mph?

Hey, theres a rx7 for sale for $500 and he said that when he starts it up theres white smoke(he claims it's just gaskets but i'm not sure the truth of that) he also said the only other problem is that it won't go over 35mph, I already have a 7 but wanted to get that one for a good price if I could troubleshoot the problem fairly easily. thanks.

Running on 1 rotor maybe? If the loss of power is that great, that just might be it.

not worth 500 bucks. Thats what you should tell the guy. say you've got 250 cash right now and get a parts car for a steal. If he doesn't know anything about rotaries or rx-7s... tell him that there is no market for stock parts other than good motors and since this one is shot, it isn't worth much. That should wrangle ya a great deal.

He wanted $600, but he said he has $500 in it, and wouldn't take any less, so I wasn't sure if it wouldn't be anything as bad as needing an engine rebuilt. or if it could be something minor.

$500 is a pretty expensive lawn ornament...

Worst case, coolant seals are gone and the engine needs rebuilding.

If the body and interior is pristine, then its worth 500 bux...

However.. you are NOT going to fix it "easily", most likely it needs a new motor.

If you buy it for 500 bucks, likely, you'll have at least 1500 in it before its running good. If your OK with that, then buy it.

lol yeah, if interior body is perfect or atlest "good" then it's worth $500 and just drop a turbo motor in it, gonna cost to rebuilt motor anyways. a good motor is about 1500 so you'll be spending 2gs for a good running 7
