I did this today while removing the ac condenser...
Go under the front bumper,and lay on your back. Look up spot hood release mechanism you should see the hook for the cable right in front of you. Reach up and pull left on the hook while pushing up on the hood with your other arm.
It's easy...Dont try to pry hood open or release it with a screwdriver it wont open and you will bend your lip.

Because i was going to remove the ac condenser so i had to remove the latch mechanism. Well on my way putting it back together i just forgot! Its the dumbest thing ive done all month. Was a pain in the *** and i thought i was going too be screwed.But it came out fine...
