White Smoke
you could always try and use some coolant system stop-leak. definitely not a permanent fix, and i was pretty skeptical about it at first, but it definitely reduced the coolant-burning after a while. now my car just burns massive amounts of oil.

Smell it!
Too much gas or flooded engine = white smoke
Coolant burning = white smoke
Oil burning = white smoke (amazingly)
The only way to tell is to SMELL the smoke.
Coolant will be obvious cause it's not going to burn your eyes like too much gas or oil smoke.
Oil smoke will smell pretty obvious.

Listen, The coolant seeps past a weak seal and builds up as the motor is not running......the coolant is still under pressure as the motor cools down. This build up burns out at start up and the smoke stops. However your still running coolant through the motor its just being burned in small qtys.
Don't listen to me. Find out for yourself. I was in denial as well. Here is what I sounded like last August.........Surely I didn't just buy a Vert with a blown motor. I'm way too smart for that. When the engine was broken down there was a 3/4" chip missing from the front Iron. The coolant seals were still there but you could see where the corosion from months of water seeping into that coolant channel.
I hate it that you but a block and its not good. I hate to see something like that happen to anybody. But the symptoms are always the same......smokes like heel at start up=blown coolant seals.

i agree strongly, just last week i was still trying to claim my engine was fine, till it blew up! i had the same symptoms, i changed the oil and it started smoking, i was like o its nothing, im out on the track BAM huge smoke clouds and i go through 4 qts of oil in sec. i put more in just to see what would happen 11qts of oil later the fire ball shoots out the side by my tire and the engine was done... ive been there listen to people that have made the same mistakes.

i have problem too. could it be ur apex seal. i think thats wrong with mine oil leaking into the engine, and it is only when i start or rev past 4g, thats when it smokes a little. the big nice cloud is when i rev it past 6g.
