white smoke

did a search and found nothing.

I got an 88 turbo II and when I start it up there is white smoke coming out of the area between the turbo and the LIM. Smoke isn't coming out of the back of the exhaust, just between there.

Didn't to this before I replaced the turbo and did it rught after. You guys think I didn't tighten the water line tight enough or the gasket sealer I used is burning off?

Thanks for the info

Did you happen to remove the intake manifold? There's O-rings in there for coolant, and there's a slight chance one of them got broke if you did, however if you didn't remove it, it could be a leaky coolant line on the turbo itself that's dripping onto the manifold.

crappy turbonetics rebuild. The turbo is leaking oil out of the compressor gasket or some such s#!t. Now I got to take the turbo off and spend another 100-150 and the car is going to be down another two weeks to a month. Only drove the car 100 miles since I bought it 5 months ago. ****, if this car wasn't so damn fun to drive I'd torch it and **** on it's ashes.

Oh well, just venting.

Haha, I know the feeling. Are you sure it's not one of those damn gaskets on the oil lines? You should be able to replace those yourself for cheap, but anyway, goodluck!

You mean it's puking oil out of the compressor? That should not reach outside the turbo, it should puddle in the compresor and be burned by the engine. I would imagine your smoke is created by a leaking oil or water gasket on the turbo. Fairly easy to replace, but you probably need to pull the turbo to do so.

unfortunately it isn't the gaskets for the oil and water lines. The oil is leaking between the exhaust housing and the center housing. when the exhaust housing heats up then it creates smoke. No smoke out the back of the exhaust. only off the turbo.
