white Fcs pain chips???
I was just wondering why original white paint FCs chip so bad. In other words i see a lot of white FCs with big paint chips specially the 1988 10th AE. I know it is a dumb question but i don't how else to ask it.
In the eighties the EPA tightened regs on paint and basically forced the industry to try to adopt "greener" coatings.
Dodge vans of the era are notorious for peeling paint.
Not sure if our regs directly impacted the cars made in Japan but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's a known issue with the white FC's. The primer and paint do not get along. Once it starts chipping, it's all over. On my white '91 I was able to take the paint off with an air compressor. That is how poor the bonding is.

that really has nothing to do with the white cars peeling, the metallics having clear on them while the solid colors were a cheaper single stage. Red cars were the quickest to fade, but even those did not peel.
I have single stage on my car, but it is very much improved from the OEM paint.
