Question Wheres the stereo power?

Before I saved my rx7 from the junkyard, someone yanked the stereo out and cut all the wires instead of unclipping the harness. Now I dont know where the power for the stereo is.

Is the power in set #1, 2, or 3?? Unfortunately I dont have access to one of those testers with the light. So I cant test the wires myself. Can someone help me out? Im in the middle of installing a radio. Thanks.

ahh, I can't remember but you need 2. one for power and one for ACC. one will be red and I think the other is yellow. I think the power is red. there is no ground wire. the stock deck just uses a loop on the screw that holds the deck holder in place.

I tried the red thats in set #1 and that did not work. In set #2 theres a red wire with a blue stripe i think. That wire did not work either. I also did a search but found nothing.

as I said you need 2 to make it turn on, plus the ground. some decks require the antena to be pluged in as well to turn on...

buy a voltmeter. cheap. and find the wire with 12volts with no key, and the one with 12volts with key in acc or on.

Trial and error. It'll take you like 5 minutes to find the right combo, and thats if you find it last try! BTW, if you are trying it in the car......have a few fuses handy, for the wrong combos

The online manual....

The online manual for this year model, shows the wire harness color code.

Check the wiring diagram, learn the symbology and your home free.

Alternately, do like the pros do... (i used to be one in another life)....

Identify all the wires that are GND and PWR with the key off
with the key on

Then...
Get a AA battery, check the rest of the wires for a thumping or craclking sound.
these are the speakers.

I HIGHLY reccomend checking the wiring diagram.
Its easier.
By about 2 hours.

i have the manual and it didnt help me out one bit for hooking it up. Well it helped a bit but not much.

Usually the thickest wire will be the power.

The wiring diagram im looking at shows explicitly what is what....

I suggested it after looking at the harness.
wire colors are mentioned.
check the colors that are in the bundles in the book.

they match up.

You should get results fast from the diagram if you know how they want you to read it

Bummer about that antenna cable (set 1) though... you'll have to be a very good solder artist or run a new cable, as micky mousing the connectors back on will result in sub-par reception.

I have posted the wire colors probably 10 times in this section as well as the audio/interior section.

I am sure with the harnesses cut the way they are you will have at least one or two blown fuses

and here are those wires again, from a two second simple search for the "radio wiring".

Yes the search function does work again

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
here's the radio wires again...

LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= - power ant trigger (not positive like all aftermarket radios- you must use a relay to invert the signal)
Red/Black= + Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear
