where to mount my wideband sensor??? exhaust heat killing it?!

i just got the AEM afr gauge with the wideband sensor! the manual is recommending to mount the sensor about 16inches away from the exhaust ports!!!
in my setup this is quite difficult, 'cause i have the sport catalizer right after the stock sensor. so i was going to mount my wideband between the turbo and the catalizer. but that is way to close to the ports according to the manual...

what should i do? mounting it after the catalizer would mean some wrong reading i think??!!

You'll simply have to find a location as far from the turbo as possible while still being in front of the cat. Aren't many choices in a stock application.

that's true, but would that be far enough away? don't wanna kill the sensor!

It's the only choice you have. I've never run a wideband long-term in that location but from what I've heard others have had issues.

so that's not a good idea you say? but maybe mounting after the sport catalizer (it only has little catalizing power) would work? have no experiences!!

You could try a heatsink, I have heard of using a sheet of copper for this purpose, but you can also buy one.

You can't mount it after the cat. The readings won't even be close to accurate.

16 inches??

I thought that was for N/A applications?

IIRC, the AEM manual suggests 36 inches from the exhaust ports on a turbo car, which for me, was 3/4 of the way down the downpipe.

so a heatsink will do the job?? sounds weird, 'cause it will only protect the sensor from direct flaming from the turbo but after a few minutes the temps are going to rise anywhere in that area... how do all the other rotary guys with their widebands???
