stock shaft is not that heavy in the first place.

Mazdatrix is the only place (I think) that sells aftermarket drive shaft for the 2nd gen.

why would you want one anyway?

The biggest reason people go aftermarket is the replaceable universal joints.

when my u-joint went out, I just took the drive-shaft to a drive train place and they put in replaceable, lube-able u-joints, balanced and re-painted for about 100 bucks. and hes right they really don't seem to weigh alot.

Rockford driveline- u-joints for stock shafts, you're done for $30.

Unless you go with a $900 carbon fiber shaft it's hard to beat the stock one, even harder to get and aftermarket one to handle the rpm's you can hit if you change the rear gear.

This is where I got mine. Needed a T2 shaft with replaceable joints. $259 to my door.
