where else to look?

SO the other day my friend and i were crusing in his 89 vert' It was running fine, then suddenly started acting weird, the idle became horrible, and died on us at one point. We started it and limped it home, it would run, but there was no power to it.

So i just changed the plugs, while doing it i cranked it to hear if there was compression (there was) the plugs were in bad shape. It is still running like it was. You can smell gas heavily when its running as well. It sounds like there is a miss when it is running, and the car will try to keep running, letting the idle drop to just before it dies.

So im not sure where to look next, the plug wires? the coil packs? Any help is greatly appreciated.

check ignition, make sure your injectors arent leaking really bad, other than that id say check the compression.

...sounds to me like you were running in limp mode. in other words, you blew a seal. Check your compression. Probably time for a rebuild.

checked compression today, nothing on the front rotor and no time/money to rebuild means that he will be selling it as a shell...
