where does the EGT sensor goe?
where does the EGT sensor goe?
Hi everybody. I have a S4 turboII and I got the autometer phantom series EGT gauger with the sensor. My question is this, should I mount the EGT sensor on the exhaust manifold between the output of the motor and the turbo or should it be mounted like in the downpipe near the flange just after the turbo? I been searching past threads to find the answer to this question and I was looking around the web a bit and keep coming across pix of people doing it either way. I'm running the stock turbo and manifold right now with a racing beat downpipe. Any info would be great.

Whatever is easier for you.
Lots of people stuff it in the downpipe, if you have a bung for it.
Else...

EGT in the turbo exhaust manifold is more accurate and displays changes faster.
Your Autometer might not be able to handle the higher heat in the turbo exhaust manifold, so you might be stuck installing it in the downpipe.
1600F max, right?

Yea I saw that bit on www.fc3spro.com already. Yea the autometer in my opinion is kind of cheap, but I need something in the mean time to tell me what's going on in my motor. I think I will plug it in the downpipe. Thanx
