I can tell you where not to mount them. Don't mount them on the firewall or you'll have the high heat build up there change the resistance values of the internals. The amount of current reaching the plugs will drop as the car warms up.

I relocated the battery though. I just used some self-tapping screws. I have since switched to HKS twin power, mounted in the same location.

And you said you have two MSD boxes... you know you need 3 right if you want to do both leading and trailing?

I don't use MSD due to all the problems I've had with them in the past, so I have my Crane HI-6 mounted between the front bumper and rad support vertically.

Sure. Just run a slightly thicker gauge of wire due to the distance from the box to the coils.

aaron, guessing you'd mount the coolant overflow elsewhere?

My car is an '86, so the coolant recovery bottle was mounted on the inner driver side wheel well near the fuse box from the factory. I have my own coolant recovery bottle mounted to the side of the rad.

2 Crane HI-6 under the cooling panel (as seen by the 8 screws holding them in.)

Previous owner put 3, yes 3, under the carpet in the passenger storage bin! I think 3 is a bit much... Never had any problems with it.

I have mine in the same place as BLUETII,Only I put it on the driver's side and moved some relays to Place it there. It is a great place to mount it,as the Box does tend to get hot. This location is away from Rain.Engine heat, and doesn't interfere with any Maintenance you have to do under the Hood.Another Reason why I put it there is the Run of wire to the Leading Coil was very Minimal.
