where did i go wrong (already searched...i need a pro)

I have a 91 N/a....

I took the TB off, and the airbox...I replaced the airbox with a cone filter, mass airflow sensor and added one piece of pipe to the elbow to make it all fit. That is all fine....

I removed the front butterflies (not the primarys) and the dashpot/actuator thing that controlled it. I removed the rod that held the butterflies and plugged it very well.
I took the 2 coolant lines that ran into the left side of the TB (if your looking at it from the pass side of the car) (wax pellet coolant lines i think...) and ran them together (creating a cycle right...and plugged the lines in the TB from them...

I slightly ported and polished the inside of the TB, nothing to drastic or anything like that....
I didnt remove any or the cam rollers or fast idle stuff...

Didnt actually remove the wax pellet itself...or the dashpot on the left side (again if looking at the tb from pass. side) of the TB.

Put it all back together and now i get a really high erratic idle on cold start and lots of white smoke...also it is idleing with a huge jump between 1000 and 1500...with the bypass air screw (located on the top of the TB) screwed all the way in (gently...)... A little white smoke while warming up my engine is normal for my car, but this is a cloud....car will not hold a solid idle, and is erratically vroom...vroom...vroom...between 1000 and 1500.....

Do i just have to readjust my idle...or did i screw something up...did i not take off something i should have...or did i remove something i shouldnt of removed...i need help...this is my daily, and i was supposed to be going to GA this weekend...

If i need to readjust my idle, someone is gunna have to give me a detailed explaination, i have read and read about it and still dont get it at all, to many things to screw in or out, to many of the posts were about setting it on a turbo not an s5 na...

help...please...and apprecaited...

It is punishment for your avatar. Pistons own rotaries.

J/K

Sounds to me like you have a coolant leak from one of the coolant lines leading to / from the thermal pellet on the throttle body. I'm not sure how you could have created a leak from there into the intake manifold but strange things sometimes happen with rotaries. The white cloud is a sure sign of water ingestion, and could be making the computer unhappy, causing the obnoxious idling.

He says he connected the coolant lines together I thought though?

Cold starts as cold outside or just when the ar has been sitting?

Maybe you did something so misalign your TPS? I haven't personally seen a TB from a rotary (yet) but many TBs have gaskets to seal engine sensors and the idle control valve, maybe you fubared a gasket?

cold start as in sitting. Im in FL so it dont get cold out here....

the tps didnt get moved, and doesnt have a gasket on it....
The collant leaking into the tb is a mystery, i routed the 2 hoses that went into the tb together and plugged the 2 on the tb really well...This is becoming more of a mystery to me each day....

Also, if the fast idle adjusting pin and the other idle justing pin were miss allinged this would cause all of this as well, i am pretty sure none of that got moved but in case it did, how would i know...does anyone have a writeup with pics where an s5 na idle pins should be sitting exactly?

I believe rotaryresurrection.com has a write up if I am not mistaken.

Right Kevin??????????

Sounds to me you have to check for leaks or something that is not capped or plugged.

Now, you will have to reset the TPS regardless!!!!!!!!!!

Doing this mod is supposed to make your idle go up. You will have to manually play with the idle screw and the back of the throttle body to at least get it to 1000 rpms. When the engine is cold you will have to feather it a little bit to get it to warm up and it will idle smooth.
