Where can I get a lateral link for an '89 T2?

Like it says, I need a passenger side lateral link. Mine decided to turn into a U-shaped rod after a brief meeting with a curb tonight. I would like to get one ASAP. Where do I get one? TIA

I spun my NA over a curb once; totally bent the rim, trailing arm and lateral link at about a 45 deg angle. W/ new rims and trailing arm I just hammered the L-link straight w/ huge deadblow hammer and it aligned to spec no problem.

Cool, I'll have to try that. The wheel is shot (no big deal) and the trailing arm looks good so that just leaves the lateral link all bent up.

I bought one two weeks ago at Apple wrecking in Mansfield Texas for fifteen bucks. I'm trying to say they don't cost squat at the wrecking yard and you can find a decent one. A new one cost, I hear, a hundred fifty(no idea where I read that).

I'm thinking if I can't pound it out, I'll just have to call a junkyard and see about getting one that way. I assume there is no difference in lateral links from one 2nd gen to another regardlees of year or model. Am I wrong?

Well, I think the turbos (and mabye all w/ sport suspension) are a bit lower. If so and they have same camber as normal suspension then they corrected for it w/ either lateral links or subframe link (seems more likely) at the factory. But this is pure conjecture; I guess I am saying don't just assume they are all the same, confirm it first.

I removed the link tonight. No way this thing can be straightened. It is toasted. So I'll have to find another one, pronto! I just don't want to get the wrong kind. I'm just hoping that the N/A models have the same sized links. This would make life easier (oops, I might have just jinxed myself).

Hello Jerk! You just made me realize something. When I replaced my r/h rear lateral link on my 87turboII, I got the part off a N/A car. After replacing the lateral link I had the car aligned. It did align with no problems, so I think we can say that they are the same. Just joking about the Jerk, Jerk_Racer. Humor.

Thanks for the info everybody. I was able to locate a link from a local yard for dirt cheap compared to having somebody else fix it. This is great. Now my car will be up and running in time for a large gathering of car guys (started by us on the forum, but everybody is invited to the party) here in Seattle this coming Saturday. Keep an eye on the NW section for the video that will be made.

I finally fixed it tonight. $35 later my car is fixed! It's back to normal now. I bet if I had taken it in to a shop it would've run me over $500. When this link if bent, it'll make your rear look totaled. Oh well, I'm happy now.
