Where can i get a hood with the scoop?
Where can i get a hood with the scoop?
I was looking into purchasing an FC and I like the style with the scoop in the hood. Unfortunately, my choices for FC's are pretty limited here and I was wondering if, and where I could get that paticular hood. Thanks in advance.

PureSephiroth,
Hey welcome to the forum.
I believe Michigan USA has a few rx-7s and there own rotary club
The hoodscoop is from the rx-7 Turbo II model. If you can't find one from a salvage yard or ebay, you might try copying someone's TII hood in carbon fiber or fiberglass and using your OEM hoods subframe to support it.

If you like the hood scoop, then your best bet is to just buy a TurboII. The TurboII is only going to cost you a few hundred more than a non-turbo, and comes standard with that hood you like, plus it has more horsepower and torque, similar gas mileage, is the same insurance rate, and comes with the upscale factory wheels/tires, suspension, brakes, transmission, LSD, driveshaft, and some other goodies based on the particular year. Here is a price comparison:
88 TurboII, 90000mi, Excellent Condition: $3,600 Blue Book
88 SE (Non-Turbo Base Model), 90000mi, Excellent Condition: $3,050 Blue Book
TurboII Hood, Used, New or like-new matching paint: $400
Total: $3,450
Difference: $150
