Have you checked to make sure the connection on the engine hasn't come off?

In order to use an aftermarket gauge you will be a new sending unit to control the gauge you will be installing. The stock one will not work.

Aftermarket gauges must use their own sensors.
Tell us what you mean by your guage is "bad". What's it doing? Are you sure it's not the sensor?
