AFM problem?

Hey I did a search and I want to confirm whether my car is in limp mode from my AFM. Currently the car is runnin horrible it won't rev above 3k without mashing the throttle, the idle is horrible it stalls and the car is very slow..

My mechanic and I suggest the AFM is dead or malfunctioning, we took it out and shook and it makes a rattling sound. As well the AFM engine code came on together with other codes. Anyways my questions is, are these the symptons of a dead AFM or other problems?

My car worked after diagnoxing the AFM by taking it out and puttin it back in. but today when i replaced my intake filter I noticed my car was in limp mods..

It certainly sounds like the effects of a bad AFM even though I haven't heard of many of them going bad. You'd be surprised how screwed up your car will act with that not operating properly.

My car is acting very weird, it'll start up and run smooth for about 5 seconds then die, not sputter out, just die like you turn it off with the key. I tried everything, including unpluging the AFM, when I did that, the car ran much smoother, for about 20seconds, then it died. I think my AFM is bad also, does anyone have a way to test them?

btw-the car is an S4, NA/T2 hybrid.
