Have 1990 rx7 s5 tii vert. I bought it about a year ago at a auction and it was in bad shape. I spent some time and money to get running good. The guy that had it before me piece the engine together and didn't do a great job. So I would like to replace the whole engine with a s5 tii. Dose anyone know a good place to buy one for cheap and it not blow a seal after a week I put it in?
You could start with Rotary Ressurection.
I'm also interested in this. I've been looking at some of the companies that are in the US that import the engines here to sell. I assume it is cheaper that way because they do it in bulk and it'd be easier to communicate and receive. I'll have to find the links but I did a little bit of research a few weeks ago.
Pretty much any imported rotary is going to be a crap shoot. It'll probably be sold without any warranty. Plan for the worst if buying an import and think of it as a parts engine and possibly rebuildable
Truth is , you can't.
Any used JDM TII engine should be treated as a core for a rebuild.
The issue really is that the supply is running out. You have to understand that there were FAR less FC's sold in Japan than here in the USA. WE actually have the bulk supply. What's coming out of japan now is 75% low/no compression motors that have been sitting. And like was said above, ALL rotaries are sold with NO WARRANTY from importers.

send your current engine to rotary Resurrection or rotary evolution. both has great reputations and will rebuild your engine correctly for reasonable price. buying a used engine will cost close to a rebuild anyway
If you are going to buy a imported engine beware, there are a lot of scammers out there.
When I bought my first imported engine, it was from a tsunami car. All of the coolant passages were filled with silt and the seller filled the intake with ATF to boost the compression numbers. I called BS on their guarantee that the engines came from "running" cars and got a second engine that was actually functional.

I would like to get a year or two out of it before I would have to rebuild. I can do it my self I just do t want to drop 2,000 engine and 1,300 on a seal kit all at the same time. I just need one with good compression.

Thats a tough one man. Im in the same boat right now. Do i buy a used engine which may be just as bad as the one I have now or do I just send mine in for a rebuild. Im leaning toward the second option. May cost a little more but at least I know its gonna be a gd engine.
Yeah but I don't want to rebuild the one I have. The guy that had it before me put a nonturbo engine in and put all the tii sensors, manifold and ecu ect. Plus when the seal broke they scared up the rotor housing beyond repair. That's why I rather buy a original tii engine and go from there.

True. It sucks either way. Best bet is to buy one that hopefully has good compression then go head and rebuild it before I put it in. Dose anyone know of a place where they bought a engine that had good compression?
If I were you, I would buy used parts, and piece the engine together.
BTW - You are in FL, there are PLENTY of rotary gurus down there. That might be easier than having to ship parts/engines back and fourth.
