Pull a hood strut from a Nissan Maxima, you'll only need one for a Mazda Aluminum hood.

I took Clokker's advice and it works great. $15 for a brand new strut from Rockauto. Here's his full thread.

The exact strut in clokker's picture can also be found on a 3000gt. My local yard gave it to me free.

build your own with quality gas springs

the ebay sets dont open the hood far at all

the gas spring # rating you need all depends on what hood you are using and the leverage amount determined by where you attach the gas spring to the hood

i bought the sokie whatever set off of ebay, didn't like the function so built my own

mine open the hood WAY up, beyond the stock stops which i removed
