Im just wondering where the best place to have the O2 sensor bung welded in. Headers? Down pipe? Muffler pipes? Or does it really even matter?

You don't have a bung on your header/downpipe/exhaust manifold (whatever you have) already? Or are you welding in a second one? Is this for a narrowband AF gauge or wideband?

Hasn't it been said that the closer to the exhuast port on the engine, the better?

For a turbo setup I would think the best and easiest place to put it would be right at the begining of the downpipe. You don't want to drill a hole in the exhaust manifold and put it there, and its also not gonna work if its a divided manifold.

maybe I thought that since where you mount a A/F gauge is basically the same on all engines and since my car is a RX7 and this forum is titled RX7CLUB.COM that I could get some help with a very basic question which could be easily awnsered by anyone with an A/F gauge, but thanks for you advice, Wankel7 too bad you are so ignorant

It depends, some wide band sensor, are heat sensitive; so if you place them really close to the turbo manifold, they won't last very long.

Since you said it is a narrow band just put it where every other car make puts it... close to the exhaust port.

Kinda a waste of money on buying that narrow band meter.

Never the less....rx7club is a rotary forum....

not a piston forum

You don't like my opinion....i dont like yours.....

Gotta love the internet

I would put it where the exhaust ports on one bank first collect. That way you don't get a bad read from one cylinder, but you get an average of the 4 on that bank.

if you have the 02 sensor already in ( which you have )

you can put the wire onto one in the ecu - the search facility is your best friend

good luck

for wideband I would place it at my midpipe probably or maybe even further than that so that the heat isn't as bad as close the turbo thus making the sensor last a hole lot longer. Other than that if it's a narrow band you can place it I believe 2 to 3" away from the exhaust manifold.
